Aston vs Hare Street and Hormead

Aston just miss out on making it 3 in a row

A very tense match ended in a share of the spoils

Aston batted first and got off to a steady start with Doc Wallis and Eddie O'Hanlon putting on 46 for the first wicket in difficult scoring conditions.  There were useful contributions right down the order from Eddie O'Hanlon, Jason Burns, Matt Wallis and Colin Parker which left Aston at 151 for 6 at tea and the declaration.

Good seam bowling from Richard Falder, Nick Brown, Eddie O'Hanlon, David Stanbury and some very quick stuff from Matt Wallis saw wickets regularly but also saw the score creeping up.  Some very tidy off spin bowling from Jason Burns saw the visitors loose a couple more wickets fall, but Aston were left 2 wickets short of victory as the tail saw off the last few overs and batted out for a draw

Again Jason Burns was a strong candidate scoring 25 and taking 2 wickets for 3 runs, but it goes to Matt Wallis for his fine 33 and then some very lively bowling producing figures of 3-20.

Champaign moment

Doc Wallis, as the only fielder in front of square on the on-side, shouting catch it and then not moving as the ball went upishly through mid on.
